Embracing Life

God wants us to enjoy our lives.  Not just in the world to come, but today, in THIS life, He offers us joy and peace.

The evil one would like nothing more than for you to be an ineffective Christian – unhappy here and no source of light to those around you.

But God has other plans.  He wants you to enjoy your life, including this moment right now!  He wants others to see your light and be drawn to Him.

Not let me clarify what I mean by enjoying life.  I do not mean that life will be perfect, nothing bad will happen, and everything will go your way.  Not that it wouldn’t be nice if that did happen!  But that’s just not reality.  What it means is:

Choosing to remain in perfect peace,

enveloped in the joy of the Lord,

during the storms, the waiting and the blessing.

I love the Amplified version of John 10:10:

“The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy.  I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).”

There are no doubts about it Satan wants to steal, kill and destroy your joy; he literally wants to devour your blessings.

Jesus wants us to have life, to enjoy life, in ABUDANCE, so that it is so full it even overflows to those around us.  How amazing is that?  (Sign me up for that plan please!)

A few years ago, I decided that I wanted to enjoy every aspect of my life.  That included the time spent commuting to work, waiting in line at the grocery store, changing diapers, and even being at work!

As I started to lean into these “disruptions” in my life, I found myself filled with peace and joy like I had not before experienced.  Now don’t get me wrong, I have not arrived, but in the words of Joyce Meyer,

“I may not be where I want to be, but thank God I’m not where I used to be.  I’m fine and I’m on my way!”

And so I press on!

  1. Yep! That’s what it’s all about growing in a pleasing way to Him. Not only peace and contentment, but fun and joy are part of who we are. That is why the professor likes to tap into his Punchyish nature here and now do you?
